It’s about property: Aamir Liaquat’s third wife Dania Shah heard first time since arrest
Former PTI MNA and TV host Aamir Liaquat’s third wife has spoken for the first time since her arrest by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) earlier this week.
On Saturday, Dania was produced before a Karachi court where she told the judge that she was “being trapped” to deprive her of her share in the property that Liaquat left at his death.
Dania Shah was arrested from her Lodhran residence two days ago, under the charges of leaking Aamir Liaquat’s nude pictures and videos to social media.
Liaquat married Dania in February 2022 but their relationship fell apart within months. Private videos and photographs of Aamir Liaquat surfaced on social media soon afterwards.
Aamir Liaquat died in June but not before forgiving Dania Shah, who he said was still his wife.
However, Liaquat’s former wife Bushra Iqbal, the mother of his two children, was reportedly irked by the release of his private photos and videos and sought justice for the father of her children.
When Dania Shah was arrested from Lodhran Thursday night, her mother blamed Bushra Iqbal for the FIA raid.
Police and the FIA moved Dania Shah to Karachi where she was first brought to the court of judicial magistrate East District on Friday but the court hours had ended by then.
On Saturday, the authorities finally produced her before the judge, who questioned if holding Dania Shah for over 24 hours without a court appearance was legal.
Dania told the court she was not behind the leaked videos and photos.
“I am being trapped for the property. This is all about property. I did not make any video, nor do I have any link to it,” she said.
The judge said an investigation could unearth the truth.
Dania Shah’s lawyers pleaded that her client should not be remanded into FIA custody as she could be interrogated in prison.
The investigation officer handed over a USB stick to the court containing the evidence, which the judge plugged into a laptop and examined the videos.
Bushra Iqbal told the court that Dania Shah’s voice was heard in the videos and that in the past she had admitted to recording these videos in several media interviews.
The court sent Dania to jail on judicial remand.
