The Taliban attack on the Army Public School that took almost 150 lives including over 130 children, is eight years old today.

Nine terrorists entered the school in Peshawar, brutally targeting students and teachers. Six of the terrorists were suicide bombers, the three remaining were killed in the military’s response operation.

Eight years on, the nation still mourns the loss of innocent lives. The immediate aftermath saw schools being closed in the entire country and a re-examination of the security situation in the country.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif took to Twitter to post a message in remembrance.

“The grief is unforgettable, even after so many years,” the PM wrote.

The attack was claimed by the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan. The terror group said the attack had been carried out in response to the military operation being carried out in North Waziristan.

The entire national leadership came together to formulate a stronger response to terrorism in the country. One of the major decisions was to remove the moratorium on the death penalty in the country, So far, five culprits have been executed for being involved in the attack.
