Two robbers were killed for allegedly killing a man and injuring his two sons during a robbery that took place in Karachi’s Surjani Sector on Sunday morning.

Station House Officer (SHO) Sarjani Town police station, Yasin Gujjar, said that two robbers approached two brothers, Noman and Zeshan, sitting outside their home in Sarjani Town’s Sector 7A and tried to rob them.

He said that on facing resistance, the suspects opened fire on them. “Meanwhile, 60-year-old father of the boys, Saleem, came out of the house,” the SHO said and added that Saleem and his son Nauman were seriously injured during the firing.

Sources said that as soon as the robbers opened fire, another citizen who was armed with a gun opened fire on the suspects and brought them down.

Following the firing, the angry mob overpowered the injured suspects and and tortured them with stones and sticks before the police arrived at the spot

According to the rescue sources, the injured citizens and the suspects were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where Saleem and both the suspects were pronounced dead.

The police said the identity of the suspects could not be ascertained immediately, while a pistol and motorbike were recovered.

This is not the first time the angry mob killed the suspects after an attempted robbery. Dozens of such cases have been reported where mobs killed suspects on the spot or injured them to the point where they died later in hospitals.

This year, more than a hundred people lost their lives over resistance in the metropolis.
