Not aware of any assurance given on my behalf: Imran Khan

PTI chief submits his response to Supreme Court in contempt of court case

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan, while submitting his reply to the Supreme Court in the contempt of court case, expressed ignorance regarding the assurances given by the PTI leadership on his behalf.

“There is no question of violating any order of the Supreme Court as I am not aware of any assurance given by the party leadership on my behalf,” the PTI chief told the court during the hearing of the contempt of court case against him.

A five-member larger bench of the apex court, headed by Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial heard the contempt of court petition filed by the Ministry of Interior against the PTI chief over the May 25 march.

Imran Khan requested time till November 3 to submit a detailed reply and said that he respected the court.

PTI lawyers Babar Awan and Faisal Chaudhry had assured the court that they would not cross the restricted area and would stage their protest in the area allowed by the Supreme Court.

In the last hearing, the supreme court had sought a response from the PTI chief over the plea seeking contempt proceedings against him.

Justice Bandial had remarked that it would be better to seek a response from those who assured.

The court also directed to provide the police, ISI, and IB reports to Khan and said that the PTI chief should provide an answer in light of these reports.
