PTI protester released after brief detention in London
A PTI protester was released after being briefly detained by the London police outside Avenfield, the former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s residence on Friday. He along with other demonstrators was protesting outside the house.
The police detained Shayan Ali after the PTI and the PML-N supporters came face to face outside the house. This came at a time when PTI chief Imran Khan kicked off his long march against the coalition government in Lahore, Pakistan on Friday.
At least four police officers were trying to handcuff and hold him, as other demonstrators and his mother protested. In videos circulating on social media, it was seen that the PTI supporter was asking others to calm down.
“I was NOT arrested, police have said the PML-N started the attack! JUSTICE ZINDABAD! Sharif mafia fail again!” he said in a series of tweets.
Ali claimed that the police apologised to him and released him only a few minutes after detaining him. “I was NOT arrested. If anyone spreads fake news falsely claiming I was arrested I will take legal action. Justice has prevailed!”
