The PTI, which has been cricitised in the past by people for its apparent negative propaganda, was again the talk of the town after the release of the trailor of the documentary film ‘Behind Closed Doors’. The PTI claimed that it uncovers the purported corruption of the Sharif family.

“Behind Closed Doors is a film about corruption in high places and those who enable it,” the Independent POV said in a post. It’s about section on YouTube urged people to become Patreon supporters for early access to films, “support the current project on gofundme.com or sign up to the newsletter.”

The documentary features contributions by John-Allan Namu of Africa Uncensored, Emin Huseynov, Pakistani journalist Arshad Sharif, Rachel Davies Teka of Transparency International, Tom Stocks of the OCCRP, former prime minister Imran Khan, PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry, Shahzad Akbar, who served as the focal person on accountability during Imran Khan’s premiership, and journalist Irfan Hashmi.

It has been filmed by Michael Oswald and MurtazaMehdi.

“Arshad Sharif” and “Netflix in Pakistan” were among the top trends on Twitter, as the PTI leaders claimed that it was being released on the streaming services and Arshad’s claims regarding Sharif family corruption that were featured in the one-minute forty-three seconds trailer.

“Accounts were opened in the names of these low-level and low-wage employees who do not come into the tax net. Money used to deposited in those accounts and finally, they used to land in the accounts of either Mr Hamza Shehbaz Sharif, Mr Suleman Shehbaz Sharif or Mr Shehbaz Sharif himself,” Arshad Sharif said in the clip.

PTI followers have been retweeting the trailer since Monday’s release, only to receive replies from dissenters who claimed that it was not being released on Netflix and it was “propaganda”. But, the streaming giant’s name was still visible on Twitter trends.

“When you look at the laws… I am talking about the richer countries as a whole they tend to favour the crooks,” Imran is seen saying while apparently sitting at the PM’s Office.

Aaj Digital has so far received no response from Netflix, Amazon Prime, and the documentary makers for confirmation.

The Behind Closed Doors Documentary Twitter page shows that it joined social media in January 2016 and has more than 3,300 followers. And the filmmaker Murtaza Mehdi has 260 followers as of October 18, 2022.

PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry shared the trailer with a tweet “coming soon”.

“A must-watch documentary on corruption very relevant as Sharifs also feature in it. Soon on Netflix and Amazon,” PTI leader Shireen Mazari said in a tweet.

Punjab chief minister spokesperson Fayyazul Hassan Chohan claimed that the documentary made on the “Sharif family” would be seen in every house. “It is now coming to Netflix,” he said and alleged that the world would see their videos full of corruption.
