ISLAMABAD: Consumers of K-Electric would pay Rs4.89 less for the electricity they consume per unit, after the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) approved it on account of fuel cost adjustment (FCA) for electricity consumed in August.

The power regulator, however, raised the price by Rs0.19 per unit for the consumers of ex-Wapda Distribution Companies (Discos), also on account of FCA for the month of August, at the request of Central Power Purchasing Agency.

Changes in both rates would be reflected in the bills for October.

Nepra reserved its decision on September 29 on KE’s request for reducing the electricity cost by Rs4.21 per unit.

“The negative FCA of August 2022 shall be applicable to all the consumer categories except lifeline consumers, domestic consumers consuming up to 300 units, agricultural consumers and electric vehicle charging station (EVCS) consumers of K-Electric,” it said in a notification.

“It is hereby clarified that negative adjustment on account of monthly FCA is also applicable to the domestic consumers having Time of Use (ToU) meters irrespective of their consumption level, shall be shown separately in the consumers’ bills on the basis of units billed to the consumers in the respective month to which the adjustment pertains,” it said.

In another notification pertaining to ex-Wapda Discos, Nepra said the adjustment, an increase of Rs0.19 18/kWh, shall be applicable to all the consumer categories except EVCS and lifeline consumers of all the XWD1SCOs.
