A 32-year-old lion, which was popular among the visitors, was found dead in the cage at Punjab’s Bahawalpur zoo.

The lion, named Bhola, was born in the same zoo in 1990, the curator said adding that a post-mortem of the lion has been conducted, according to which the lion died of natural causes.

Earlier last month, 5 rare species of Aryal deer died in Bahawalpur zoo. Two females and three cubs were among the dead Aryal deer. These deer died due to bacterial infection.

It should be noted that Bahawalpur Zoo is the fourth largest zoo in Pakistan which is known for sending lions, wild cats, and Bengal tigers to other zoos in the country hence the name of this zoo is Sher Bagh which means “Lion’s Garden”.
