  • The Islamabad police have claimed to have found a pistol during a search operation at PTI leader Shahbaz Gill, who is accused of sedition and inciting the public against state institutions, house in Parliament Lodges. The accused was also with cops. He claimed that the gun belonged to his two gunmen, who resided at the house. Gill said that perhaps someone would have entered the room before them.

  • A larger bench of the Islamabad High Court would conduct contempt of court proceedings today (Tuesday) against PTI chief Imran Khan for threatening Islamabad police officers and a female magistrate during a rally on Saturday.

  • Former PM Imran has alleged that his chief of staff, Gill, was abducted but not arrested. He rejected the suggestion to return to the National Assembly while presiding over a parliamentary party meeting on Monday. Imran reiterated his demand for general elections.

  • The district and sessions court in Islamabad again granted police two-day physical remand of police Shehbaz Gill, chief of staff of former PM Imran Khan, on Monday. It asked the police to produce Gill before the court n August 24. The accused complained to the duty judge that he was not allowed to meet anyone.

  • The Islamabad High Court has ordered that an SSP rank officer would oversee the investigation while hearing a case pertaining to the apparent torture of Gill during remand. It directed the government to appoint a retired judge as an inquiry officer to investigate the purported torture.

  • Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb has alleged that Gill read out Imran Khan’s script during the ARY News programme, which became the reason for the PTI leader’s arrest.

  • The Islamabad High Court defused the immediate tension by granting the PTI chairperson three days of pre-arrest bail in a terrorism case.

  • PTI leaders have claimed that the coalition government was afraid of Imran and demanded of it to organise immediate elections.

  • AML leader Sheikh Rashid said that PTI leader Imran would give a final call against “regime change” in the last week of September and “jam” the country.

  • At least two people died because of Covid-19 over the last 24 hours, the National Institute of Health said. Around 217 new virus cases were reported.

  • At least 41 more people died in rain related incidents in a single day, bringing the total death toll to 820, the national data showed. Heavy rains have severely affected Sindh and Balochsitan provinces. Livestock, houses, farms, and roads have been damaged.

  • The Monetary Policy Committee of the State Bank of Pakistan has maintained the key interest rate at 15%, it was announced on Monday.

  • England’s first Test series in Pakistan in 17 years will begin in Rawalpindi on December 1, the hosts said on Monday as they announced the match schedule. Dates for a seven-match Twenty20 series starting next month have already been announced, but an England squad will return for the long-awaited three-match Test series.

  • Pacer Mohammad Hasnain would replace injured Shaheen Shah Afridi in the ACC T20 Asia Cup, the Pakistan Cricket Board announced on Monday.
