FIA forms JIT against social media campaign over helicopter crash

A six-member team will investigate and take action against the elements involved

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has launched an investigation against the elements who spread negative propaganda on social media against the helicopter crash and the martyrs in Balochistan.

Additional Director General of the FIA’s Cybercrime Wing ​​has set up a four-member Joint Investigation Team to investigate and take action against the elements spreading negative propaganda against the six martyred officers.

The committee also includes representatives from the Inter-Services Intelligence and the Intelligence Bureau.

The Interior Ministry issued a notification on Monday in this regard.

According to the FIA, the investigation will be conducted by a JIT team headed by additional cybercrime wing Muhammad Jafar, with the Director of Operations in the cybercrime wing of North Waqaruddin Syed, additional director Ayaz, and Imran Haider as part of the investigation team.

On Friday, the Inter-Service Public Relations (ISPR) also condemned negative propaganda, saying that it had hurt the sentiments of the families of the martyrs.

“While the whole nation stood with the institution in this difficult time, certain insensitive quarters resorted to hurtful & derogatory comments on social media,” the military media wing’s spokesperson said.

Earlier, the ISPR in a statement had said that the wreckage of the helicopter engaged in the relief operations in Balochistan was found in Musa Goth area of ​​Windar. According to preliminary investigation, the accident occurred due to bad weather.
