Fans gear up to see mom-to-be Alia Bhatt for the first time in a thriller movie, as the first teaser for Darlings released on Tuesday.

The teaser shows Alia and Shefali Shah in a mom-daughter duo, going after two shady men played by Vijay Varma and Roshan Mathew.

The teaser was shared on Netflix India as well as by cast members on their social media platforms. Alia Bhatt shared the clip on her Instagram with a caption, “Its just a tease Darlings.”

Fellow celebrities sent lots of love for the Darlings teaser.

The teaser reveals Alia and a man in a romantic relationship, who later marries with her mother’s blessings. However, not much later things take an eerie turn when secrets unfold.

All the while, Bhatt is narrating the story of a frog and a scorpion. The scorpion happens to be a predator, who can never change from its true nature, and will attack whenever given a chance. The story tells that the two can never be friends.

A snippet where Alia has done a red dress and puts on a bright red lipstick, hints she may be the predator as she quotes the Scorpion, “Stinging is what I do”.

Alia will be seen as Badru Qureshi while Shefali will be seen playing Rukhsar Akhtar. Badru is paired with her love interest Gaurav Mathur who will be played by Varma. Mathew plays Akash Sharma, whose character is kept in wraps now, nonetheless, the ominous music suggests his role being connected with Badru.

Jasmeet K Reen is directing the film and it is produced by Gauri Khan under her and Shah Rukh Khan’s production label Red Chillies Entertainment, Alia and Gaurav Verma. Darlings is an OTT project which will be released on Netflix on August 5.

Alia will also be seen in ‘Brahmastra’ alongside her husband Ranbir Kapoor which is releasing on September 9. She will also be seen in ‘Jee Le Zaraa’, ‘Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani’ and her Hollywood debut in ‘Heart of Stone’ alongside Gal Gadot and Jamie Dornan.
