K-Electric seeks Rs11.34 per unit power tariff increase
K-Electric, Karachi’s sole power utility, on Thursday requested the National Electric and Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) to increase the power tariff by Rs11.34 per unit under fuel adjustment charges for the month of May 2022.
As fuel prices fluctuate globally, power-generation companies need to recalibrate their prices and the extra costs are passed on to the customer.
The power regulator will hear the plea submitted by K-Electric on July 4, 2022.
The increase in power tariff would impose a burden of Rs22.45 billion on the consumers.
Earlier this month, Nepra had approved K-Electric’s request to increase fuel charge adjustment (FCA) for the month of April by Rs5.28 per unit.
