Mr Amitabh Bachchan is this you?
American photojournalist Steve McCurry left people confused on the internet on Tuesday after he reshared on Instagram a portrait of an Afghan refugee who resembles Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan.
McCurry is known across the world for his eye-catching portraits of people, particularly from war-torn and developing countries.
The 2018 photo of a man with a turban, rugged, white-bearded and thick spectacles has left Bachchan’s fans scratching their heads. Some people are speculating that it is a still from the set of Bachchan’s film ‘Thugs of Hindostan’.
The resemblance between the subject in the portrait and Bachchan is uncanny and has taken the internet by storm. The picture has garnered more than 75,000 likes.
“At first look, I thought it’s Mr Amitabh Bhachan,” wrote one user.
“Why does he look like Amitabh Bachchan with makeup on?” added another.
“Looks so much like the Indian (Bollywood) superstar Amitabh Bachchan,” while a fourth wrote, “I thought that [is] Amitabh Bachchan’s look for his next movie!”
However, it’s been revealed that the man is not Big B and the picture is not from the set of any Bollywood movie.
In the caption, McCurry put to rest the speculation by saying that the portrait is of a “68-year-old Afghan refugee living in Pakistan”.
