KARACHI: A local court in Karachi ordered a postmortem of renowned television host, Amir Liaquat, on Saturday, June 18.

Amir Liaquat passed away on June 9 and was buried at the Abdullah Shah Ghazi graveyard. There was some controversy around his death but he had not initially been handed over to the police for a postmortem.

“It is suspected that Amir Liaquat was killed in an inheritance dispute,” the petitioner argued, “A special board should be formed for a postmortem.”

According to the police, the cause of death cannot be determined without an internal examination of the body.

On the other hand, the public lawyer emphasised that Liaquat’s heirs had no doubts about his death and did not want to exhume the body.

The court delivered its decision after taking all arguments into consideration and the police were asked to implement the court order.
