Punjab takes federal govt’s cue on employee salary bump
LAHORE: The salaries of Punjab government employees will be increased up to 30 per cent in the budget for the upcoming fiscal year.
There is a 15 per cent salary increase in the budget that will be accompanied by a 15 per cent increase in the disparity allowance.
The disparirty allowance will be provided in the name of special allowance. This allowance will be provided to certain government departments only.
The 15% salary increase by Punjab is the same as announced by the Federal Finance Minister Miftah Ismail for federal government employees while presenting the federal budget in the National Assembly on Friday. It cited inflation as the reason for the increase.
In the Punjab budget document, a five per cent increase has been earmarked for pensions.
Minimum wage in Punjab will be increase from Rs20,000 to Rs25,000.
