Govt extends inter-provincial transport ban amid COVID-19 surge
1 min readNational Command and Operation Centre, the country's nerve center for unified efforts against coronavirus, in the wake of a surge in Covid-19 cases has announced to extend two days interprovincial transport ban on weekends till 17th of next month, reported Radio Pakistan on Sunday.
The NCOC meeting took place under the chair of Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar to deliberate upon proposed lockdowns in high disease prevalence cities. It was agreed that the decision on lockdown would be taken after discussing it with all stakeholders.
The Forum took the decision earlier this month to impose a ban on inter-provincial transport on the weekends. The ban was initially imposed from 10th April till 25th April. It was decided that the restrictions could be extended depending on the situation.
COVID-19: Pakistan reports 118 deaths, 10.17% positivity rate:
Pakistan on Sunday has reported 5,611 new cases and 1118 COVID-19 related deaths in the last 24 hours as the country struggles with the third wave of coronavirus.
According to statistics shared by NCOC, 55,128 coronavirus tests were taken, 5,611 came out positive, and 118 deaths were reported countrywide in the last 24 hours.
There are currently 4,862 critical patients of COVID-19 admitted at different hospitals in the country. And the reported positivity rate is 10.17%.
