ISLAMABAD: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) and Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) head Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Friday contacted Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif to future strategy including matters related to the long march.

Nawaz Sharif inquired after Fazl and both the leaders also discussed the political situation in the country.

Sources privy to the development said, both the leaders discussed the country’s overall political situation and the situation developed after resignations of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Awami National Party (ANP) from PDM.

Both the leaders agreed to move forward against the PTI government and stick to the agenda of the Pakistan Democratic Movement.

Nawaz and Fazl also pondered over the future strategy of the Pakistan Democratic Movement, which has become dysfunctional since the emergence of differences among the alliance parties over Senate elections.

Pakistan People’s Party and Awami National Party have separated their ways from the PDM after the PDM served show-cause notices on both the parties for going against the opposition alliance decision on the opposition leader in the Senate.

Sources say former prime minister Nawaz has given his full backing to Fazl to sort out the issues with both PPP and ANP. Fazl has already asked both parties to reconsider their decision of leaving the PDM. NNI
