After Chinese city Qingdao reported a small number of coronavirus, the authorities have decided to test its entire population of nine million people over a period of five days.

According to details, the Chinese government has decided to conduct coronavirus tests in a city of nine million people after a dozen cases were found linked to a hospital treating virus patients arriving from abroad.

Earlier, China had tested the entire city of Wuhan, which is also the epicenter of the global outbreak.

Where China is successful in largely bringing the coronavirus under control, other parts of the world including US, India and Brazil are still reporting high case numbers and lockdown restrictions of varying severity.

An official of Qingdao's Municipals Health Commission said that around six new cases and six asymptomatic cases had been reported.

The Chinese authorities have decided to adopt a strategy of mass testing even when a new coronavirus cluster seems to be relatively minor.

China has presently reported 85,578 virus cases and the death toll stands at 4,634.

Globally, 37,754,464 cases of coronavirus have been reported with 1,081,500 deaths, whereas, 28,361,239 people have recovered from the disease.
