Global coronavirus cases surge past 2.2 million, death toll reaches 150,152

The number of confirmed coronavirus cases topped 2.2 million on Saturday as the global death toll from the virus climbed over 150,152.

According to details, more than 2.2 million declared cases have been registered in 200 countries and territories since the epidemic first emerged in China in December. Of these cases, at least 572,000 are now considered recovered.

In United States, nearly 674,585 cases were confirmed, including more than 37,158 deaths. Only in New York, more than two hundred thousand cases are reported.

China has revised the death toll of Wuhan by 50% but has denied any cover up in the figures.

According to details, the central Chinese city where the Coronavirus first emerged late last year, has revised its death toll up by 1,290 to 3,869, admitting people died at home and cases were missed as hospitals struggled to cope in the early days of the outbreak.

Italy, which recorded its first coronavirus death at the end of February, has 22,745 fatalities while Spain has recorded 19,130 fatalities and 182,816 infections.

France has reported 1400 deaths in a single day, taking the tally to 17,920 deaths and 165,027 cases. United Kingdom has reported 861 deaths during last 24 hours, 13,729 fatalities and 103,093 infections.

Meanwhile, the death toll is 4,869 in Iran as confirmed number of cases is almost 77,995.
