US coronavirus death toll hits new high with record single-day casualties
The US passed a grim milestone Monday with the largest single-day coronavirus death toll in the country. More than 2000 people died of COVID-19, raising the country's total count past 18,000.
According to details, more than 2043 people succumbed to coronavirus taking the toll to 18,000 in the country.
Around 23,000 new cases have been reported in the last 24 hours in US.
New York State, the epicenter of America’s coronavirus crisis, set another single-day record of Covid-19 casualties with number surpassing 700.
There are more than one hundred Pakistanis among the people who have died of the coronavirus in the New York region.
On the other hand, global death toll from the novel coronavirus climbed over 1,02,000 whereas more than 1,70,000 have been infected with the virus.
More than 1.7 million declared cases have been registered in 200 countries and territories since the epidemic first emerged in China in December. Of these cases, at least 350,000 are now considered recovered.
Italy, which recorded its first coronavirus death at the end of February, has more than 17,000 fatalities, with 570 people succumbing to the disease in last 24 hours.
Spain has recorded 523 fatalities in a single day whereas France and United Kingdom reported 987 and 980 casualties respectively.
Meanwhile, the death toll is 172 in Iran as confirmed number of cases is 68,000.
Many countries have restricted flights from the most affected places and implemented lockdowns as the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the outbreak a pandemic and Europe the new epicenter of the outbreak.
