Punjab government refuses to extend Nawaz Sharif's bail
The Punjab government on Tuesday refused the application of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif for extension in bail, stating that the PML-N supremo has failed to provide the required medical reports.
While addressing a press conference in Lahore, Law Minister Punjab Raja Basharat said that the provincial cabinet discussed the issue of Nawaz Sharif leaving abroad on November 19.
“Even after the passage of sixteen weeks, we did not get a satisfactory response. We were told that Nawaz Sharif would get operated on February 24, but his operation was not done. Dr. Adnan said that treatment would require two to three more weeks; however, Nawaz Sharif has not been admitted to any hospital in London so far,” he said.
Raja Basharat further said that it seems like they want to drag the issue further,“Provincial cabinet will inform federal cabinet about its decision to not extend Nawaz Sharif’s bail plea,” he said.
He further said that Nawaz Sharif was given bail on certain conditions which were not fulfilled.
