All Pakistan Transport Owners Federation (APTOF) will observe a country-wide strike on Thursday against the heavy increase in fines and taxes by the government.

As per officials of the Public and Goods Transporters Association, all kinds of vehicles will observe the strike till the withdrawal of fines and taxes.

The fine which was Rs750 across the board for every violation will now be Rs1,500 for speeding for motorbikes, Rs2,500 for cars, Rs5,000 for trucks and Rs10,000 for public service vehicles, according to the sources.

In Hyderabad and Rawalpindi, the transporters have announced to suspend their services for an indefinite period. They have threatened to come out on streets to protests if the taxes are not withdrawn within 24 hours.
