LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday asked the government to make a decision about removing the name of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz from the Exit Control List (ECL) within a weeks time.

A two-member bench of the high court, headed by Justice Ali Baqar Najafi, presided over the hearing today into a petition filed by Maryam, to remove her name from the ECL so she can visit her ailing father in London.

During the proceedings, Maryam's lawyer Azam Nazir Tarar requested the court should change her petition's status to "pending" and direct the government to decide on the review application. However, the court said they didn't want to increase the pressure on the government by doing so and disposed of the petition, directing the government to decide on the review application.
