Senate to vote on no-confidence motion against chairman, deputy chairman today
ISLAMABAD: The Senate will hold its session today to take up the no-confidence motion tabled against the Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani and Deputy Chairman Saleem Mandviwalla.
For the first time in the history of Pakistan, a no-confidence motion has been submitted against the senate chairman, demanding him to leave the position after only assuming the office for over a year.
The opposition parties have nominated Hasil Bizenjo as their candidate for the post of chairman Senate. On July 10, the opposition had submitted a resolution of no-confidence against Sanjrani to the Senate Secretariat.
The no-trust motion was signed by 44 senators.
According to opposition leaders they had enough number of senators to get their candidate elected as chairman Senate. —AFP
