ISLAMABAD:  The government on Saturday decided to give another 24 hours to protestors of a religious group, staging a sit-in at Faizabad interchange in Islamabad to disperse peacefully.

While addressing a press conference here on Friday night, Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal had requested the representatives of the protesting group to call off their sit-in and obey law of the land in larger interest of the country.

The minister had said the government wants to end the sit-in peacefully through dialogue.

He said the parliament has already made finality of Prophet-hood law foolproof and there is no ambiguity and shortcoming in it.

But today heavy deployment of law enforcing personnel was seen near the site of protest and media was speculating that the government has decided to use force to restore normalcy in the city, which has been semi-paralyzed from last 10 days due to the sit-in.

Later, Iqbal directed the capital authority to restrain from using force for another 24 hours and give protestors another chance to disperse peacefully.
