Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Saturday said the existing system would have to be changed through constitutional amendments.

While addressing a big gathering of the PML-N workers and supporters at Data Darbar here, Nawaz said that the current system of the country would have to be replaced, as it is "afflicted by a virus".

"There is no social, economic and judicial justice in the country," he said, adding: "We would introduce a new system to ensure justice within 90 days and state will provide houses to homeless people on subsidized rates." To achieve this goal, we would introduce new laws through constitutional amendments, he added. In this regard, he announced that he would unfold his programme on August 14.

He announced support to the suggestions given by the Chairman Senate. "PML-N agrees with his thoughts and would welcome to work with him," he said. Nawaz said in the entire history of the country not a single prime minister was allowed to complete tenure. "All prime ministers were removed. Were all of them corrupt?" asked Nawaz.

He asked if the dictators who "have eaten away 30 years of Pakistan" will ever be held accountable. He said this country is of 200 million people instead of a few people. He said people had made him the prime minister through their votes but "five people sent him home". He asked his supporters to take a stand against this treatment of prime ministers, saying "there is no country [in the world] like Pakistan where there is no sanctity of the vote".

Nawaz said the country belonged to the masses, not a handful of people. "A few people don't own Pakistan. It belongs to you, the masses. You elected me as the prime minister, but some people did not respect your decision," he added. "What I see in this four-day journey is the real change. It's a revolution. We will joins hands and walk side by side," he said. He added that he has no lust for power. My struggle is for uplift of the countrymen and giving respectable status to the country in the comity of nations.

He condemned the blast in Quetta and expressed sympathies for the families of those affected. When the PML-N charged workers shouted slogans of "ro Imran ro" Nawaz without naming him said that "after witnessing this crowd that man must be crying at this moment." He also highlighted services rendered by the PML-N government during its 4-year tenure.

Nawaz praised the AJK Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider who also participated in the rally. He said the PML-N's one PM has been sent back home while the other is still working efficiently. He said Azad Kashmir would become part of Pakistan. Earlier, Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif in his address at the rally said the youth participating in the rally have proved Imran Khan wrong.

"Not one accusation of corruption has been proven against us," he said, adding: "Nawaz was removed on the basis of Iqama." Shahbaz said those who looted billions of rupees are now giving lectures. He said people of Lahore would soon get Orange train although PPP, PTI, PML-Q are opposing this project of public importance. He said during PML-N's tenure, transparency has been ensured in every project and nobody can raise any objection.

PML-N leader Khawaja Saad Rafique said that Nawaz Sharif would set the country's direction right. "We would change status quo and bring real change to achieve those objectives for which this motherland came into being," he said. In the rally, Nawaz was addressed as "Quaid-e-Pakistan, Quaid-e-Jamhooriat. Earlier, Nawaz Sharif's 'homecoming' rally was received by jubilant Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz's (PML-N) activists and supporters on its arrival at Data Darbar. Sharif's vehicle was showered with rose petals and there were plenty of fireworks as his caravan inched its way through the city. Balochistan Chief Minister Sanaullah Zehri, who belongs to the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz's (PML-N), also attended the rally.
