Medical facilities for the city not adequate: Mayor
KARACHI: Mayor Karachi Waseem Akhtar said with the increasing population of the city medical facilities were negligible and needed to be increased.
He said this while inaugurating a temporary mobile chest pain Unit facility established by National Institute of Cardio Vascular diseases (NICVD) beneath the Gulshan-i-Iqbal flyover chowrangi here on Monday, said a statement.
The Mayor underlined the need of setting up teams of cardiologists that could provide immediately first aid to the patients suffering from heart attack, besides diagnosis the reasons of heart attack.
The Mayor was apprised that this unit was fully equipped with machinaries that could check the heart attack as well as carrying out ECG.
The Mayor appreciated the efforts of NICVD doctors for establishing the unit and stressed that such temporary units should also be established all over the city.
The Mayor said if such units were established at different places of the city, pressure on the major hospitals would reduce.
He also underlined the need to create awareness among the people about the habits that how to prevent from heart ailments.
