Assets of KMC not personal property: Mayor
KARACHI: Mayor Karachi Wasim Akhtar has said that KMC assets were not the personal property of anyone therefore people of Karachi would not allow to distribute these assets among others without the consent of city council.
Premise of Bagh Ibne Qasim was gifted by Parsi Community to Karachi city and the notification issued for its transfer to private organization was illegal and we will resist its implementation by submitting petition in the court, he said.
He said this while addressing a press conference in Bagh Ibne Qasim in Clifton on Friday, said a statement.
Chairman of DMC Central Rehan Hashmi, Chairman of DMC East Moeed Anwer, Chairman of DMC Korangi Syed Nayyar Raza and vice chairman of DMC Central Shakir Ali were also present.

Referring to the Section 74 of the SLGA 2013.
The Mayor Karachi said we are elected people and we are not criticizing anyone but just want to make the correction or guidance in such matters.
He thanked Malik Riyaz of Bahria Town for making him a phone call today (Friday) and said he will not adopt this park without taking on board the KMC Council and the Mayor of Karachi.
He said this being the second instance of failure of Sindh Government within a week's time, firstly the Supreme Court of Pakistan gave its verdict on the functioning of solid waste management and now Malik Riyaz gave his statement.
The Mayor said due to the historical importance of Bagh Ibne Qasim and Kothari parade this place could not be handed over to anyone.
He said Bagh Ibne Qasim was developed as a lush green and beautiful park; however this huge park got devastated due to negligence of city administrators in last eight years.
After wards Mayor Karachi visited Bagh Ibne Qasim with the district chairmen and media representatives and gave answers to their queries.-APP
