Careem, Uber declares illegal in Punjab
WEB DESK: The Provincial Transport Authority of Punjab declared cab-services of Careem and Uber in Lahore as illegal, on Monday.Â
A notification was issued to the Top Traffic officer of Lahore and the Chief Executive officer of the Lahore Transport Company, reportedly.
According to sources, the notification highlights that the these services have been offering transport facility "without registering private cars".
Also, the notification has maintained these private care are being used for commercial purposes which is a violation of local rules and regulations of the city, reportedly.
Sources further revealed that it is stated in the notification, the failure of Careem and Uber to acquire the necessary certificate and permission of route for their cars has resulted in "huge loss to the government".
