Opinion: Islamophobia hits a new high

That Islamophobia has gained momentum in the US following Donald Trump's election as President is a fact. According to a Business Recorder news item, for example, a US man has been charged with attacking a Muslim airline employee in New York, unleashing a tirade of abuse, kicking her and threatening that President Donald Trump would "get rid of all of you."

The 57-year-old man from Massachusetts unleashed an expletive-laden rant against the Delta worker at a business class lounge at John F. Kennedy International Airport, kicking her in the leg and chair after getting off a flight from the Caribbean island of Aruba.

This news item also tells readers how this Trump fan threatened Rabeeya Khan, who wears a head scarf, waiting for a connecting flight, and punched the door, hitting the back of her chair. When she asked what she had done, Rhodes replied: "You did nothing" before kicking her in the leg. The election of Trump brings to one's mind the electoral victory of Adolf Hitler in the Weimar Republic.

The Nazi leader's clear targets were non-Aryans, particularly the Jews. Insofar as Trump is concerned, his targets appear to be Mexicans, minorities, particularly Muslims, and former beauty queens.
