Aitzaz alleges SC judges of soft attitude towards Nawaz
Senior leader of Pakistan People's Party (PPP) and constitutional expert, Senator Aitzaz Ahsan has alleged that judges of the Supreme Court (SC) hearing the Panama Leaks case have soft corner for the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
Speaking during a private TV channel Programme here on Saturday, Senator Aitzaz Ahsan claimed that Prime Minister was very much trapped in Panama case, but he feels that judges have been very soft on him.
He was of the view the Prime Minister had already lost his case in the court of people as Panama case has become a nationwide joke. He said that if Nawaz Sharif was acquitted on the basis of some letters from a Qatari prince, he too has many friends abroad, can he also produce any such letter as proof for his wealth.
"It has no legal value whatsoever and acquitting anybody on the basis of a letter will set a dangerous precedent," he warned. To a question, Aitaz said the SC has ample evidence to announce a verdict in the Panama case. Sharif family has admitted that they are owners of London flats, added Ahsan.
To another question, the Constitution expert clarified that there would be no threat to democracy if Nawaz Sharif was disqualified. "Assemblies will remain intact and Nawaz Sharif can nominate any member of his party for the post of the Prime Minister," he said.
