PFA seals four food outlets, fines others

The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) on Friday sealed four food outlets and imposed fine on numerous others in different parts of the provincial metropolis on the charges of serious violations of hygiene rules.

According to information released by the Authority, Data Ganj Bukhsh Town team sealed Mehfil Mahi and Sheikh Jee Chicken Channay restaurant for not following the earlier issued directives, failing to prove traceability of fish and chicken and storing edible oil in chemical drums.

The team also destroyed over 56 liters of expired edible oil. The same team imposed a fine of Rs 2,000 on Bismillah Traders for improper labeling of eatables and not having license of the food authority.

Aziz Bhatti town team sealed Ghausia Fish Corner on the charges of storing fish near washroom, keeping dairy items and uncooked meat at one place, poor personal hygiene of the employees, failing to prove traceability of the raw material and presence of cats and insects in kitchen. The same team also sealed Alpro Foods Water Plant on the charges of not stopping production despite the orders issued on December 28, 2016 and finding quantity of arsenic higher than the prescribed limit in its water.

Allama Iqbal Town team imposed a fine of Rs 45,000 on Cakes & Bakes' branch in Johar Town because of dirty floors, open drains, presence of broken eggs in kitchen and not having MRD tags on eatables. Gulberg Team imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 on Chai Khana situated on M.M. Alam road for not having record of oil and not printing manufacturing dates on eatables. Other teams of the Authority imposed a fine on Alharmain Catering, fined Hafiz Milk Shop and Masha Allah Parathay wala and restaurant on different charges. -Business Recorder
