LAHORE: This winter season rains have been very scanty over Northern areas and parts of Punjab, which remained dry throughout the winters. 

According to reports, northern parts of the country are receiving light to heavy rain.

Islamabad, Rawalpindi and adjoining areas are receiving light rain while there are reports of light snowfall in Murree. Jhelum, Pind Dadan Khan and Sheikhupura are also getting light rain.

There are reports of heavy rains in upper areas of Astore and rain and snowfall in Chitral. Lowari Tunnel has been closed for traffic due to snowfall.

Malam Jabba and Swat are also receiving rain.

Met Office has forecast rains and snowfall till Saturday.
