KARACHI: Section 144 has been imposed in the port city on the eve of New Year, swimming at the sea side has also been banned due to security concerns, Aaj News reported. 

Provincial authorities on Saturday have finalized a strict security plan for New Year night in Karachi. A notification was issued a week ago imposing section 144 in the metropolis on New Year night. Under section 144 sea view will be closed for revellers on the new year eve.

One-wheeling and riding motorcycles without silencers is also banned to prevent accidents and public nuisance.

According to the traffic police, the roads heading to sea view have also been blocked by placing containers while only two routes would be opened for transportation.

Traffic plan for the new year night has been issued by traffic police.

Under this plan, road leading to Sea View from Akhtar colony will be closed for vehicular traffic. Traffic from Akhtar colony and Korangi will be diverted to Shahrah-e-Faisal.

The road leading to US Consulate from the KPT Bridge will be closed at 9:00, the road from Boat Basin to Bilawal Chowrangi will also remain shut.

Heavy vehicles coming from Korangi Industrial Area will be diverted to National Highway.

Traffic plan for the DHA residents has been finalized. It will be mandatory for the citizens to keep National Identity Cards with them on the new year night.
