Murder accused declared 'innocent' by Supreme Court
ISLAMABAD: Mazhar Farooq - a murder accused released from jail after 24 years, the Supreme Court on Friday in its verdict declared him innocent, Aaj News reported.Â
A three-member bench presided by Justice Asif Saeed Khosa heard the case. The Supreme Court in its verdict said that the prosecution had failed to provide sufficient evidence.
A pistol presented as evidence to the court did not belong to the accused. The apex court ordered release of the accused Mazhar Farooq due to lack of evidence.
A trial court had given him the death sentence for a 1992 murder in Kasur. The High Court had also maintained the death sentence.
