KP Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has asked federal government to guarantee genuine rights of all small federating units including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. 

Talking to media in his home district Nowshera on Sunday, the chief minister said that the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif instead of teaching us lesson and blocking our way should grant rights to the people of the province.

He said that the provincial government is moving judiciary to ensure that the province gets all of its rights including its fair share in Pakistan China Economic Corridor (CPEC).

He said that the option of moving courts is available to them and ruled out any compromise on the rights of the province, saying no one should remain in misconception.

The chief minister said that he had issued directives for the provision of best and free medical treatment for the residents of Misri Banda, Nowshera, who were injured in Motorway accident.

Pervez Khattak said that they want the development of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa while centre is creating hurdles in their way. He said that despite agreements in the Council of Common Interest (CCI), the centre is using delaying tactics and neglecting KP in mega projects.

He lamented that even the announcements made by the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif were also ignored in the public sector development programme (PSDP), saying due to these reasons there is a growing sense of deprivation in small provinces.

The chief minister said that they have not taken any illegal and unconstitutional step, despite the fact federal and Punjab governments' unleashed brutal force and used violence against their peaceful procession.

He said that their peaceful procession was teargased and they were stopped from entering the Punjab province and the federal capital and government has left us with no choice other than knocking the door of judiciary.

He recalled that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in presence of all religious and political parties announced the provision of all those incentives on western route, which have been given to central corridor of the CPEC. But, the present situation is completely different from what the prime minister announced. -Business Recorder
