The government team, tasked to reach out to opposition parties to counter the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's (PTI) lockdown plan of federal capital on Saturday contacted Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Ahmad Shah to discuss its future strategy.

Sources within the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) told Business Recorder that senior party leader and Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique made a telephonic contact with Shah and discussed with him PTI's lockdown plan of federal capital.

The two leaders agreed to meet on Tuesday (October 25) to hold further discussions, according to sources. "It was a telephonic contact and the two sides agreed to continue discussions for the sake of democracy. The two parties have a similar stance that democratic system should be protected," said a senior PML-N leader, requesting anonymity.

He said the PML-N would also approach other opposition political parties, including Awami National Party (ANP), to muster support in the wake of PTI's siege plan of the federal capital.
