"Udta Punjab" leaked online before its release
WEB DESK: The upcoming Bollywood film, “Udta Punjabâ€, which was in news for its controversial content, has been leaked online two days before its release. However, the team of the project successfully removed it from the online sites.
“Udta Punjab†was in news because of its war with the censor board. It emerges on Wednesday that the film is available on torrent sites for illegal download. However, soon the download links were “removed due to a copyright complaintâ€, the websites read.
Multiple online platforms have the snap shots of the leaked copy of the film. As per the snap shots, it can be stated that it was a copy of the film submitted to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) as it also featured some scenes which the censor board had objected to.
It was also reported that the leaked copy of the film had run-time of 2 hours and 20 minutes.
When contacted, a representative of the movie’s makers, said, “No comments.â€
The censor board suggested the maker of the movie that the makers should alter the movie by 89 cuts. Later, it went to the Revising Committee, which brought it down to 13 cuts.
However, the Bombay High Court on Monday gave the drug-themed movie a green signal for release after making just one cut and inserting three disclaimers.
The bone of contention for the CBFC was that “Udta Punjab†was showcasing Punjab in a poor light, with a highlight on its festering problem of drugs.
“Udta Punjab†stars Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Diljit Dosanjh.
Abhishek Chaubey directorial will be on floors on June 17.
