PAF Chief meets Sri Lankan military leadership in Colombo

ISLAMABAD: Chief of Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force, Air Chief Marshal, Tahir Rafique Butt Staff called on Sri Lankan Secretary Defence and Urban Development, Gotabaya Rajapaksa at the Sri Lankan Ministry of Defence in Colombo on Thursday.

Later on, the Air Chief also called on Commander Sri Lankan Army Lt. General Daya Ratnayake and Commander Sri Lankan Navy Vice Admiral Jayantha Perera at their respective services headquarters.

The PAF Air Chief was accorded warm welcome by the Sri Lankan military leadership. Smart contingents of the three services presented Guard of Honour on his arrival at the respective headquarters of Sri Lankan Defence Services.

According to a press release issued by PAF here, the PAF Air Chief's meetings with Sri Lankan military leadership were productive and held in cordial atmosphere. Bilateral matters pertaining to mutual professional interest came under discussion.

During the meeting with Sri Lankan Air Chief, Air Marshal Kolitha Gunathilake, it was agreed to enhance the cooperation between the two Air Forces and new dimensions be given to already existing friendly relations.

Air Chief Marshal Tahir Rafique Butt, assured his counterpart of sustained support and cooperation in the fields of technical training and professional expertise.

They also agreed to cement friendly relations through exchange postings / courses programmes. Both the Air Chiefs also shared and discussed their experience in dealing with the menace of terrorism as well.

Air Chief Marshal Tahir Rafique Butt is on a three day official visit to Myanmar and Sri Lanka on the invitation of Air Forces of both the countries.
