Illegal occupation of amenity plots not to be tolerated: Sharjeel
KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Information and Local Government Sharjeel lnam Memon has said that the illegal occupation and encroachments on amenity plots would not be tolerated.
The authorities concerned should immediately start compilation of necessary record of the amenity plots in the metropolis so that illegal occupation and encroachments on those amenity plots could be removed and the misuse of amenity plots could be prevented.
The Minister issued these directives to the authorities concerned while presiding over a meeting with Sindh Secretary Local Government and other officials at his office here on Tuesday.
He directed the Secretary and other officials to launch a crack-down against the illegal occupation and misuse of amenity plots.
He directed that all encroachments on amenity plots should immediately be removed and in case of any resistance form the encroaches.
The Minister directed the Administrators of all District Municipal Corporations of the city to compile and furnish record of amenity plot within their precincts along with details of encroachment types and people behind those encroachments within a week.
He further directed the Secretary Local Government, Administrator Karachi Metropolitan Corporation and Director General Parks to furnish details about amenity plots cleaned of encroachments during the crack-down.
He said that many amenity plots were being converted into marriage halls for revenue generation purposes 011 commercial basis and hence action should also be taken against such misuses of amenity plots.
