Coordination between doctors and researchers needed to combat health challenges
KARACHI: There is need for close coordination between doctors and medical researchers to control the fast emerging health challenges including new viral and bacterial infections with severe impact on public health, said experts at a seminar held at Liaquat National Hospital on Tuesday.
The event titled, "Chest Diseases and their Modern Day Treatment Modalities," was addressed by Prof. Salman Sharif, Prof. Mossavir Ansari, Dr. Ali Abbas, Dr.Zafar Ahmad, Dr. Shahla Shazad, Dr. Farrukh Raza, Dr. Alwina Imran, Dr. Fahim, Dr. Nabira Abbas, Dr. Masood Tarin and Dr. Ali Arsalan was attended by 150 general physicians from the country.
Senior pulmonologist Dr. Zafar Ahmad discussed in detail the emerging manifestations of chest diseases, available treatment modalities with specific reference to tuberculosis and relevant of chest x-rays.
Speakers were of unanimous opinion that proper and timely diagnosis coupled with adequate treatment could help prevent associated morbidity and mortality rates in the country.
General physicians were said to play crucial role in providing quality healthcare to the masses with improved accessibility and simple interventions.
