KARACHI: Taking strict security measures on the day of Eid Milad un Nabi; the government decided to ban mobile phone services across Pakistan.

This decision was taken in order to avoid any unwanted incident to occur during the procession of any gathering or rallies.

According to sources, Pakistan Telecommunication Authority had directed concerned officials to restrict mobile phone on the behest of provincial governments.

In Karachi, the services will be unavailable between 07:00 AM and 10:00 PM, while in other parts of Sindh, mobile phones will remain silent from 07:0 AM to 09:00 PM.

Sources said additional contingents of paramilitary forces have also been deployed in cities declared most sensitive.

More than 12 cities of Punjab have been declared sensitive where cellular services are likely to be blocked as well; On the other hand the cellular networks have also been turned off for the whole day in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The services will also remain down throughout Balochistan.
