KP Governor directs sparing no effort to protect children from Polio

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor, Engineer Shaukatullah has asked the concerned authorities to spare no effort to get the children in FATA protected from polio virus and help the respective people in eliminating this stigma from their normal life.

He has directed to take every possible measure for ensuring secured future for the coming generations.

Presiding over a high level meeting during his visit to the Polio Control Room established at FATA Secretariat in Peshawar on Thursday, the Governor also stressed to further beef up measures to ensure protection and proper facilitation of polio teams in both the North and South Waziristan agencies and Khyber Agency.

Additional Chief Secretary, FATA, Arbab Muhammad Arif flanked by Secretary Administration, Syed Ameeruddin Shah, In charge, Polio Eradication arrangements in FATA Dr Ihsan, and the Secretary Social Sector and Health Services, Captain ? Sardar Abass briefed the Governor about the ongoing arrangements to tackle the problem. Principal Secretary to Governor, Dr Fakhar- e-Alam, Political agents of Khyber and North Waziristan agencies, Mutahirzeb and Siraj Khan respectively were also present.

Stressing more effective efforts to educate the people about severe consequences of the Polio virus attack, the Governor desired to take all possible measures for availing the available advantages of both print and electronic media.

He said, no leniency should also be tolerated on part of all concerned engaged in the process of polio eradication.

More than 0.3 million children have been vaccinated during the Polio vaccination campaign concluded in November last.

Later, talking to representative of media, the Governor declared to himself evaluate progress in respect of polio vaccination arrangements on the spot, wherever he would happen to visit in FATA in future.

He also hinted to look in to the possibility to bring the compensation amount for the polio workers who would embrace martyrdom in fulfillment of their responsibilities at par with the incentive being provided by the government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
