SC wants Malik Riaz’s interview recording by 2pm
ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court ordered Pakistan Electronic Media Regularity Authority (PEMRA) to produce the video recording of Malik Riaz's (off-air) interview with a private Television Channel by 2pm on Friday, reported Aaj News.
A two hour special TV show (read the interview) was arranged by a private news channel on Wednesday at 9 pm, where hosts Mubasher Lucman and Meher Bukhari invited Bahria Town founder Malik Riaz for a question and answer session.
The video titled, “Malik Riaz Planted Interview with Mehar Bukhari and Mubasher Lukman on Dunya TVâ€Â reveals shocking evidence and confessions proving that the interview was in fact planted and was arranged to promote a premeditated opinion.
There are two videos, in one of which Mubashir Lucman is seen receiving a call on his cell phone from Ali Qadir Gilani, son of Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani, and Mubashir told him that Riaz Malik was not letting him name Hamid Mir. Later Lucman gave his phone to Malik Riaz, and then PM’s son and Riaz Malik talked to each other.
During the interview both anchors were also instructed against interrupting Riaz during the interview. Bokhari refers to instructions from someone named ‘Mian sb’ in the early parts of the show and later also speaks to Naveed Kashif, the chief operating officer of the organisation, over the phone.
On June 13th, the Supreme Court had also issued the show cause notice to Malik Riaz for addressing a press conference on the pending issue of alleged favours upon son of Chief Justice of Pakistan and bringing the judiciary into ridicule.
The bench issued notices under Article 204 of the Constitution, read with Section 3 of Contempt of Court Act 2003 and relevant provisions of the Supreme Court Rules.
