KARACHI: One of the many suspects of news reporter Wali Khan Babar's murder was gunned down in a police encounter early morning near Sea View, Clifton.

According to police sources, a gunfight between the police and armed robbers occurred near Sea View which lead to two arrests while four other men were able to flee the scene.

Later, one of the culprits succumbed to his wounds and died, the other known as Rashid a.k.a "Chamber", is still in police custody.  During the encounter, a police man was also injured.

The deceased is identified as Liaquat Ali. He was a wanted man in Wali Babar's murder trial and was owner of the reported car that was used as an accessory in Wali Khan's murder on January 13 in 2011.

Wali Khan Babar was a news reporter who was shot dead in a drive-by in Liaquatabad No. 1, outside his residence on his way back from work, last year.
