FM Khar demands evidence backing Clinton’s allegations

The Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Hina Rabbani Khar, said on Monday, that Pakistan does not possess any "information about the presence of al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri in Pakistan."

During a meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on National Security, Khar said, “If anybody has any information in this regard, they should share it with Pakistan."

The foreign minister's statement came in the wake of  of American secretary of state, Hillary Clinton's statements, earlier today.

While on her trip to India, Clinton said that US believes that the leader of Al-Qaeda, Ayman Al-Zawahiri, who has now replaced Osama Bin Laden, is currently inside Pakistan.

While visiting the city of Kolkata, Clinton claimed, “There are several significant leaders still on the run. Zawahiri, who inherited the leadership from bin Laden is somewhere, we believe, in Pakistan."

During the PCNS meeting today, Hina Rabbani Khar said that the US is aware of Pakistan’s concerns over drone strikes.

She said that US attack on Pakistani soil is a violation of Pakistan's sovereignty and is proving to be nothing but "Counter-Productive" for US and Pakistan, in this war on terror.
