Karachi: Several injured in protest against SC verdict

KARACHI: After the Supreme Court announced its verdict regarding the contempt of court case against the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) elected Prime Minister of Pakistan, Yousuf Raza Gilani. The law and order situation in Karachi has suddenly deteriorated.

Aerial firing and shutter down protests from unidentified men has been reported from different localities of Karachi.

Several people have reportedly been injured during the firing while a man was killed in landhi.

Areas like Gizri, ZamZama, Gulf, Clifton, Malir, N.Nazimabad, F.B.Area have come to a halt, as PPP protesters have shut down local businesses and blocked all major roads in the said localities.

Police stood as spectators while masked men force shopkeepers to shut down their businesses.

Three people were also reported injured in Orangi Town and Qasba Colony due to gun fire. A bystander came under way of a bullet at the renowned Cafe Piyala, who got injured and rushed to the hospital.

Unknown men are still forcing local businesses to be shut down while creating havoc by aerial firing in various parts of the city.
