Former Engro Corp CEO Asad Umar joins PTI

The 50 year old CEO of Engro Corporation, Asad Umar, who recently took an early retirement amid speculations of seeking a political career, has announced that he will be joining Imran Khan's Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI).

Speaking to a press conference in Islamabad, Asad Umar along with the party chief confirmed the rumors and announced that he is officially joining the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf party, on Wednesday.

In past few months it was rumored that Asad Umar is now diverting his focus towards starting a political career, after his attendance at PTI's  Professionals Forum.

During the press conference, Imran Khan welcomed Asad Umar to the party.

Speaking about the Siachen Tragedy, agreeing with Nawaz Sharif he said that both Pakistan and India should remove forces from the Siachen territory and the move should be "unilateral"

Asad Umar has served Engro for 27 years and took over as the President and CEO of the firm in 2004. It was under his leadership and vision that Engro managed to successfully launch the worlds largest single terrain urea plant. When nobody gave him a chance - he managed to bring an investment of 1.3 billion dollars for the Enven plant.

He transformed Engro into the giant that it is today by expanding the businesses - and in just five years time, Engro has gone from being merely another fertilizer company to a well-diversified conglomerate. The businesses in which he ventured tell he believes in Pakistans strength, and his actions have proven what he often says, "indigenous resource is the future of Pakistan".
