Romney focuses on Obama as Santorum suspends presidential race.
Rick Santorum, former US Senator, decided to drop out of the Republican presidential candidate race late on Tuesday. The November elections now see Mitt Romney as the strongest candidate to fight Barack Obama for the presidential contest. With Santorum dropping out, Romney has a great chance to mend the damage he had to suffer during the primary contest and focus towards Barack Obama.
The general election movement was interestingly building up between Mitt Romney and President Obama as both of their campaigns were getting more directly towards each other. A final seven month campaigning stint is still on the line between the two candidates who vow to take the country towards their own perspectives.
The Romney camp has been quite active in criticizing Obama’s presidential tenure clearly stating it as a failure. Romney has been brave enough to state that Obama’s policies have slowed the economic recovery and have as a result enhanced the deficits and debts of the country.
On the contrary, Obama has stated Romney to be a supporter of the policies that plunged the nation into the deep recession. Obama has further criticized Romney to be a man who would serve and benefit the wealthy at the expense of the middle-class.
Andrea Saul stated that the main target for Romney had always been to defeat Obama and this was what he would aim for. Romney’s advisers are of the view that, despite Santorum’s suspension, their top priority would be to win the remaining primaries.
Romney was inflicted badly during the primary fight which led him to be weak for the general election movement among key social groups. With respect to female voters and Hispanics, Romney lies way behind Obama. This has been because of his immigration stance and insensitive language that he used against the Hispanics during his debates.
