661 PBC employees' regularization in line with PPP manifesto: Firdous
Minister for Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said on Wednesday that the regularization of the services of 661 PBC employees was in line with the manifesto of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).
Addressing the employees of Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation (PBC), who staged a rally here to express gratitude to the government for their regularization, Dr Firdous said that the regularization of employees was in line with the vision of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, which would further strengthen the institution.
She dispelled the impression that the recently levied two percent tax by the telecom operators was a radio tax. No such tax has been levied so far. The two percent charges is levied by the telecom operators on their own to improve their services, she added.
The minister regretted that the media and the political parties, which raised hue and cry over the proposed revival of Radio Licence fee, were silent on levying of this tax on the consumers.
